Croix de Lorraine, a Heraldic two barred cross used by the Dukes of Lorraine and carried to the Crusades by the original Knights Templar.  The rusted cross and raw reclaimed wood are well paired, the wood not sanded to perfection and retaining the natural characteristics. Joined to an assemblage of ancient and collected glass beads, artisan and vintage metals, bone and hand painted wood beads, all carefully created or chosen for color and harmony. Wrapped around a hand made vessel, pit fired in the ancient Raku method, matte smoke darkened with a hint of red. Displayed in this way, cross and vessel become serene ancient modern table sculpture.
