The earliest beads are simple but the very act of fashioning them, imbuing purpose, is a meditation, a prayer. The word bead comes from Anglo Saxon bidden, to pray and bede, prayer. Our instinctive reaction to the sacred intent of a string of beads connects us to our own sacredness, in that moment the symbolism begins to tell our own story of belief and devotion.
