From the beginning of time, humans have collected treasures that held meaning for them, whether carried, placed at their altars or shaped, strung together and worn. These were their stories of belief and devotion. Necklaces, talismans and amulets were an ever present spiritual connection to their universe. The earliest beads are simple but the very act of fashioning them, imbuing purpose, is a meditation, a prayer. The word bead comes from Anglo Saxon bidden, to pray and bede, prayer. Our instinctive reaction to the sacred intent of a string of beads connects us to our own sacredness, in that moment the symbolism begins to tell our own story of belief and devotion.

Made of matte ancient carnelians from Mali… 1,000 to 2,000 years old, discovered in early Moroccan Sahara settlements and excavated rock crystals that are between 1,000 and 2,000 years old. The carnelian slices are joined with a Tibetan stylized floral mala bead, antique tribal wood, mala OM bead, antique metals, carved henna dyed camel bone, Afghani nomad metal, bronzed clay, collected antique French seed beads, antique red sponge coral and red horn.
