I hand painted antique kimono and French textile fragments from my collection…gray-violet, emerald and gild paints that interact with the kimono’s silk and gold-silver woven threads and the French textile’s raised design. The three painted textile segments are hand sewn to artist’s linen with bronze gold threads, the linen painted with a textured - gessoed surface of muted gray violet. The textiles are brought together intuitively like all of my collage work, using fragments, cutting and tearing bits for just the right color and shape, layering and hand stitching. Hand sewn to a black cotton velvet backing that does not slip.
For the serious reader and practitioner, art pieces for the art of… tarot, oracle cards, altar, wall.
