Collaged painted pieces of vintage silks from my collection… a palette of gray violet, emerald and gild washes, each material receives the paints in unexpected ways.At the center, hand painted linen with symbol fragments. Hand stitched with bronzed threads that are part of the design and mounted to linen that has a textured - gessoed surface of muted gray violet and hand rubbed gild. Gorgeous saturated colors, combined intuitively like all of my collage work, using fragments, cutting, tearing bits for just the right color and shape, layering and hand stitching. Hand sewn to black cotton velvet that does not slip.
For the serious reader and practitioner, art pieces for the art of… tarot, oracle cards, altar, wall.

Antique textiles may have loose threads, where there is thicker paint application there may be some flaking, hand stitching is not symmetrical and has its own rhythm and movement.
