Hand formed clay in bell shapes, carved with ancient symbols and marks that I have collected, each bisque fired and left unglazed to hand stain and color. Instead of the expected clapper, there are stones and metals of different ages, from different places, intuitively chosen and joined by color harmony.

The path leads to her, you can hear the soft jingles of her movement, by the sea she collects the sticks and stones and tiny treasures after every storm… A single, hand made cone shaped bell- form scored with ancient markings has been bisque fired but not returned to the kiln for glaze. Hand colored with silvery - bronze washes of studio materials and joined to a piece of driftwood with simple, hand woven cord. Embellishment is intuitively chosen… each piece of driftwood is like a book with stories to tell… of land and then shaped by the furies of the sea… above the bell, a loop of old metal and frosty white seed beads, bone, antique metal and faceted antique crystal.

Below the bell, ethereal colors…hand painted wooden beads, gilded seed beads, vintage champagne glass baroque pearls, iridescent shell and rough opaque 1,000 year old crystal excavated from a Sahara settlement.

Suspended with a simple hand woven cord and attached to a piece driftwood.

More of an amulet… with a soft jingle, fluid movement.
