Red ochre… red earth pigment, one of the oldest colorings used by ancient cave painters, ritualistically in burial preparation of the dead, representative of menstrual or birth blood… working with this pigment calls forth the ancestral ways of finding meaning in the known and the unknown. This can be a part of healing. Bell shaped with a pleasant sound and fluid movement, these are not intended to be ringing bells or wind chimes, they are the ornament of the Divine Feminine, the amulet at her door. Hand formed bell-shaped clay pieces, carved with ancient symbols and marking have been bisque fired but did not go back to the kiln for glaze. They are hand tinted and joined to driftwood with a simple hand woven cord. Decorated with pale pink opals… stone of emotional healing… metal, glass and seed beads, darkened brass and copper.
