Vintage Japanese Altar Offering Vase

$128.00

In the Japanese Buddhist tradition, offerings of candles, incense, flowers, statues, bells, scrolls and other items are made at the household altar, the butsudan to the Buddha and ancestor spirits…

Heavy vintage brass flower offering vase, engraved details, raised medallions and a wonderful, removable copper insert with a tab handle for easy removal. Every action is ceremonial… wilted flowers and water are removed from the altar in this way. A small vase with elaborate  design elements yet there is a stillness and simplicity. We have not cleaned the patina or verdigris on the brass. The copper insert has darkened with time and use and can be polished to copper richness.

Hold your incense sticks, herbs, feathers or even flowers… it carries traditions and brings serenity to your sacred space.

Looks spectacular holding Copper Tea Ceremony Ash Tool. (See Listing)
