The wild rocky Maine coast… a downward climb towards the sea when the tide recedes, a lush seaweed garden of textures, colors … persimmon, browns, purples… small rocks so well worn, some shaped as if carved with intention… we gathered in blissful silence so we could hear their stories… black slate, I can not say for sure if this is slate… what I saw was an ancient spear tip, the shape distinct, the edges softened…how many churning storms, how many moons to form this piece…that secret kept by time and the sea.

Black Stone is wrapped and joined to a mix of small vintage metal, clay and glass beads, blackened bronze artisan bead and snake vertebra.

When the light is right, the sea is a mirror… as above so below… the sky in the ocean, the sky and the ocean are one. The Black Stone shape is repeated above with hand cut and sewn vintage black leather filled with ground Egyptian musk incense, a horn bead is the connector of the two pieces.

Talisman of continuity… infused with the wisdom of the sea… tides and storms and calms, the push and pull, the endless rhythms beneath the light of suns and moons.

Hang at your altar or other magical spaces, hold in mediation, contemplation or prayer.
