Working with ancient excavated beads is an experience… they are each unique, the stone, the shape, the human wear, the patina of time. And they are challenging… hand drilled holes are uneven, sometimes impossibly narrow in the center and really hard to string. That’s when you feel the maker that chiseled and shaped each bead, that’s when you imagine the wearer… the piece of jewelry that was inherited, traded and then just lost to time.

Ancient rock crystal and lithic beads, at least 1,000 years old, excavated from a Sahara settlement, joined with old Tibetan mala crystals, ancient nila djenne glass, bronze and hand wrought antique brass, antique french seed beads and an artisan hand made hook and eye closure. Ancient, subtle, powerful.
