Desert Horse

125.00

Touched by the desert sun, the colors of dawn and sunset are the result of the firing technique. Sagger is an alternative firing method using a confined atmosphere during the firing process. Pieces can be coated with solutions, draped with horse hair or sisal, then wrapped and sealed for firing in the sagger. This sculpture was hand built with rolled and torn pieces of slab clay to capture the gesture and grace of the horse. An ear was lost in the firings that is compatible with the overall sun baked feeling. The horse wears a collar of deerskin, pieced together for a fragmented look and embellished with ancient glass beads, antique seed beads and linen wrap. This horse is a perfect companion for incense burners, crystals, spirit feathers and candles.

Horse body 6” long X  2 1/2” wide, from table to nose tip 6 1/2” tall, from tip of nose to tip of tail 7 1/2” long.

Hand made.
